Rangers have been tipped to complete the signing of Bristol City striker Tommy Conway in the summer transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-Gers defender Alan Hutton admitted he was stunned by Conway's performance on his Scotland debut and urged the Ibrox club to make their move.

The 21-year-old scored 12 goals in 43 appearances for Bristol City last season, earning his first Scotland cap as a result of his impressive displays.

Having scored 25 goals in 92 appearances for his boyhood club, the striker averages one goal every 3.6 games in England.

Hutton insisted the deal would be an "amazing" one for Rangers, with Conway's pace and work ethic making him perfect for Philippe Clement's system.

Rangers are looking to bolster their attacking options after a mixed season for Cyriel Dessers and following the departure of Kemar Roofe.

Hutton gushed over the forward's ability, describing him as "excellent" and insisting he would be a "quality" addition to the team at Ibrox.

"It's amazing because he's something a little bit different, from what I've seen," he told Football Insider.

"He scored a good number of goals for Bristol City in the Championship, I think it was 12.

"He likes to run in behind and I didn't realise he was as quick as he is until I saw him. He came on for his [Scotland] debut and I thought he was excellent.

"There was a real freedom to his game, he wants to go and press, he wants to get in behind and he works really hard.

"Rangers like that striker moving in behind and he'd be a quality signing.

"He's so young and is only going to improve, so it does tick a lot of boxes for Rangers and I'm not surprised teams are looking at him."
