Rangers notched their fourth consecutive clean sheet as they beat Ludogorets Razgrad 1-0 on Thursday night.

The Gers saw their hopes of qualifying for the next phase of the Europa League dealt a fatal blow in midweek, but they were still able to continue their winning run with a victory in their penultimate league phase game.

Rangers have been flying in the Premiership of late, and they have now notched seven wins in a row in all competitions, a run which has helped to propel them back into the title race.

Danny Rohl's side have discovered a new-found solidity to their game in recent weeks, and Jack Butland was at the centre of attention once again at Ibrox on Thursday night.

Rangers fans bemoan Jack Butland for crucial weakness

Butland has been heavily criticised at Rangers at times this season, with fans even keen to see Liam Kelly given a run in the team midway through December.

The 32-year-old has kept an impressive nine clean sheets across his 22 Premiership appearances so far this season, but he has been unable to escape the criticism that continues to come his way.

The Englishman was on hand to make four crucial saves to help his team to victory on Thursday night, but even that was unable to stem the tide of frustration that was directed towards him by supporters.

Rangers fans took to X to share their displeasure towards Butland's latest display, despite their team coming out on top.

Some fans were quick to acknowledge the gloveman's strong shot-stopping ability, but most felt that it was overridden by his inability to deal with crosses and his poor distribution.

One supporter suggested that Butland's distribution is "atrocious," while ire towards his kicking and his ability to claim crosses were clear throughout almost all supporters' views.

  • @gr4nt7: "Butland saved us a good few times tonight, as he has all season, but his distribution is horrendous."
  • @jpt0692: "Butland is absolutely abysmal with his feet."
  • @JohnCam91195800: "Butland flapping at another cross... 6'5'' and couldn't catch a cold."

Rangers fans have been frustrated with Butland for some time now, and the issues within his game were clear to see during the victory over Ludogorets.

The veteran saved his team on several occasions throughout the 90 minutes, but consistently put them in trouble in equal measure.

The former Stoke City man is out of contract at Ibrox in the summer of 2027, but Rohl will surely be looking to move him on next summer in a bid to strengthen his hand.
