Rangers fans have been left fuming at Jack Butland after his performance in the Old Firm defeat against Celtic at Parkhead.

Philippe Clement's side were on the wrong end of a 3-0 drubbing in the season's first Glasgow Derby after goals from Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor.

However, the spotlight rested on the goalkeeper's "terrible" performance during and following the game after his weak attempts to deny the Celtic strikes.

It was Kyogo's effort in particular which left supporters incensed after a placed effort from 25 yards found its way into the corner.

Fans on both sides questioned the goalkeeper's positioning and attempt at getting down to the low strike, with Rangers supporters up in arms.

Rangers fans can't believe Jack Butland performance in Celtic defeat

Rangers went into the game as underdogs given their and Celtic's contrasting fortunes of late, but the manner of the defeat has led to further frustration.

Butland was hailed last season for his terrific performances during his first season in Scotland, but fans are now suggesting they may have gone too early with the high praise.

Taking to social media during the game, the goalkeeper was labelled "embarrassing", "criminal" and "absolutely woeful" as supporters lashed out at his display.
