Rangers fans have been left fuming at James Tavernier after footage of his display in the 0-0 opening-day draw v Hearts emerged.

Philippe Clement's side could only take one point from their first game of the season as they got off to a disappointing start at Tynecastle.

A clip of Tavernier's influence on the game quickly went viral on social media, showing the captain fail to make two simple passes, before throwing his arms up in the air and reluctantly running back.

Fans pointed to his attitude in the clips, insisting the body language on display was not what their captain should be showing.

The clear frustration, laziness and negativity in the opening game of the season is not a good sign for what little hopes of success the Rangers support held on to.

As the clip did the rounds on social media, calls returned for the club to cash in on their captain before the transfer window closes later this month.

Former Celtic forward Frank McAvennie told Football Insider on 2 August that Gers were working on a deal worth "£2-3million" for Tavernier's exit.

However, no deal has materialised, and the latest incident has led to fans labelling the captain "a huge problem" and "awful", calling for his exit to be fast-tracked.
