Rangers have been told it will cost more than £1million to sign Florian Kamberi permanently, Football Insider understands.

The centre-forward, 25, joined the Light Blues on deadline day in January on a loan deal for the rest of the season.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that the club have made a move to ascertain Hibernian's valuation of Kamberi and told the Edinburgh outfit want a seven-figure fee but are willing to accept a lower figure than in January.

The two Scottish clubs would need to negotiate a fee after failing to agree on one in January.

There is no option to buy clause included in the Kamberi loan, unlike the winter window deal that temporarily brought Ianis Hagi from Belgian side Genk.

Kamberi has made a sound impression at Rangers since his arrival even though he joined the team just when their form was reaching rock bottom.

He led the line impressively as they defeated Braga to reach the Europa League last-16, and followed that up by scoring his a brilliant first goal for the club in a 2-2 draw with St Johnstone.

The Swiss-Albanian front man has made nine appearances for the Light Blues and showed he offers something different Alfredo Morelos and the injured Jermain Defoe.

Kamberi scored eight goals in 27 appearances for Hibernian in the first half of this season.

He was even more effective in his debut campaign last term, when his 43 matches yielded 13 goals and seven assists.

Kamberi has scored one and assisted once in nine matches for the Glasgow giants, only two of which have come in the starting XI.
