The new Rangers kit design is close to being completed and is to be launched in July, Football Insider understands.

The Glasgow giants ushered in a new era at the weekend by announcing they had agreed a deal with the sportswear brand Castore to take over as their kit and retail partner.

Rangers did not divulge details of the kit's launch but the club's plan is for subscribers to the new MyGers membership scheme to be given initial exclusive access.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider the club's commercial team have already put in place a detailed plan of action in alliance with Castore.

The Andy Murray-backed firm have agreed a five-year deal with Rangers worth in excess of £20million.

The new kit and retail agreement will replace the current Hummel and Elite deal, after Rangers opted not to trigger the option to take it into a third season.

The new suppliers will also oversee the much-needed overhaul of the somewhat faded Ibrox megastore.

Castore are committed to spending £250,000 on refurbishing the store selling Rangers merchandise and replica kit after the club finally broke free of the Mike Ashley shackles.

Rangers are working to bridge the commercial gap to Celtic and believe the new kit deal is pivotal to doing that.

The Scottish champions secured their ninth consecutive title yesterday on the back of annual revenues that are nearly double the £53m turnover posted by Rangers in their last set of accounts.

The 54-times league champions were runners-up once again in the league but are still in the postponed Europa League after going one stage better than Celtic to reach the last-16.
