Rangers will tell defender Lee Hodson to find a new club this summer, Football Insider understands.

The versatile full-back has spent this season on loan at SPL club St Mirren and has been a regular starter when fit and available.

An Ibrox source has told Football Insider the club have no plans to offer a new contract to the Northern Ireland international, 27, and will tell him to find new employers.

Hodson's current deal, signed when he joined from MK Dons in the summer of 2016, expires at the end of the season, coinciding with the end of his loan spell in Paisley.

The defender has made a big impact for relegation battlers St Mirren, with manager Oran Kearney speaking warmly of the value of his experience and versatility.

Hodson, who has recently return from a 10-week lay-off with an ankle injury that saw him return to Rangers for treatment, has been used in central and wide midfield roles as well as the right-back and left-back slots where he was used at Ibrox.

The 24-times international has made 27 appearances for Rangers since being signed by ex-boss Mark Warburton upon the club's return to the Scottish top flight.
