Rangers 'working hard on recruitment' after intriguing reveal - expert
Alan Hutton has claimed having the oldest squad in Scottish football is not a "huge problem" for Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back insisted the Light Blues will be working hard on the recruitment side to bring in younger talent.
As revealed by the CIES Football Observatory (26 September), the Ibrox club have the oldest team in the Scottish top flight.
Since the start of the season the average age of players in Giovanni van Bronckhorst's squad was 28.42.
On the other end of the scale, Glasgow rivals Celtic's average age was 26.07.
Hutton suggested that Rangers will want to invest in younger players in the years to come.
"I think moving forward you always want to have a young, hungry squad, young players coming through, but you need that experience as well," he told Football Insider.
"I know we’re talking about the likes of Allan McGregor, [Steven] Davis, [James] Tavernier’s now 30, [Connor] Goldson. So I understand that, but you need that mix of experience, people who have done it before.
"I don’t see it being a huge problem. As long as you’ve got a plan for the future and are looking ahead to eventually bring someone in to replace these guys. I’m pretty sure they’ll be doing that, they’ll be working hard on the recruitment side of it so I don’t see it being an issue at this moment in time."
