Manchester United are in for a player exodus as five stars have told the club they want to leave Old Trafford this summer.

United come into the summer after suffering one of their worst ever Premier League campaigns.

Ruben Amorim replaced the sacked Erik ten Hag in November, but was unable to oversee an improvement in results or performances prompting United to finish 15th in the table.

A failure to qualify for European football following their defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final has also hampered Amorim's transfer budget in this window.

Squad wipeout as five confirm they want to leave

Manchester World's Man United reporter Rich Fay has revealed [4 July] that Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia all want out of the club this summer.

United have told the quintet they can report later to pre-season to finalise deals away from the club.

Amorim does not see a place for Rashford at the club which led to the forward joining Aston Villa on loan for the second part of last season.

Malacia and Antony also spent the second half of last season on loan at PSV and Real Betis.

Sancho spent the season at Chelsea, but the London club decided against signing the former Borussia Dortmund winger.

Garnacho has been spotted wearing an Aston Villa shirt and has fallen out with Amorim.

It comes as no surprise that following loan spells, controversial moments and bust-ups, that those five players have all decided they require a fresh chapter in the next step of their careers.

More players could also join them and United have already let Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans leave for free following the expiry of their contracts.

Young talent Kobbie Mainoo and goalkeeper Andre Onana are players that could also leave to fund a squad rebuild.

Amorim wants to sign players that fit and can adapt into his 3-4-3 system.

The Portuguese manager has so far failed in his pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford or Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting, but Matheus Cunha has joined from Wolves.

Emiliano Martinez is his number one target to replace Onana.

If Amorim does manage to acquire all his top targets then United should be on for a stronger campaign than last season.

Much though does depend on if suitors come in for players on the transfer list to boost Amorim's budget.
