Under-fire Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom has requested a meeting with director of football Victor Orta as his future remains uncertain, according to a reliable journalist.

Alan Nixon, the Sun's transfer specialist, has claimed that Heckingbottom wants the question over his future answered and wants talks as soon as he is back from his holidays.

Leeds Live have previously reported that Heckingbottom is due back from his holiday on Saturday.

Football Insider verdict:

So, this is it. We'll finally get to see what Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani have in store for Heckingbottom. The manager saga has been going on plenty long enough, with speculation over his position starting as early as spring. This doesn't look good for Heckingbottom though. It's almost like Leeds have put their summer on hold while they make this decision, and we think it's going to go against the manager. Football Insider revealed that he would be sacked by the summer at the latest back in April and we've seen or heard nothing since that would make us believe the club has changed its mind. We're assuming they've taken this long to ensure they have someone else in place but Heckingbottom's request for talks could expedite the decision. That's good for all concerned. Either way it needs sorting out so that Leeds can get on with big task of rebuilding their squad for next season.
