The move to appoint Marco Silva as new Everton manager is all but done, according to a reliable journalist.
Alan Nixon, the Sun's transfer expert, made the claim on Thursday night after it was confirmed that second favourite for the job, Paulo Fonseca, had signed a new contract with Shakhtar Donetsk.
That news was announced on the official Shakhtar Twitter page on Thursday night.
Following this, a fan asked if that meant Silva to Everton was all but done and Nixon replied, "Yes".

This has all happened quickly after Everton got rid of Sam Allardyce on Wednesday. The Allardyce reign was short, miserable and yet effective. Perhaps Everton were never in any real danger of getting relegated, but Allardyce shifted them to safety, finsihed in a respectable position in the Premier League and collected a couple of big fat pay cheques. Now, Farhad Moshiri will put his trust in Silva, who was sacked by Watford in January after a poor run of form. He was their first option and Watford are considering making a complaint over an illegal approach after they claim his form suffered. That complicates matters slightly, with possible compensation on offer if the clubs can agree, or arbitration if they can't. Everton fans will be pleased though and will look forward to this summer and next season to see if Silva can get anywhere near their lofty ambition of playing Champions League football. That won't be easy whoever is the manager – the power four in the Premier League is very well established and won't take kindly to any other outsiders attempting to muscle in.
