Leeds United are interested in bringing Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban to Elland Road this summer, according to a reliable journalist.

Alan Nixon, the Sun's transfer expert, made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Sunday morning.

He also said that Bournemouth would sell at the right price but that his wages were high – reported to be £29k-a-week by Sportrac.

Leeds will reportedly face competition from Nottingham Forest for the 30-year-old striker.

Football Insider verdict:

Leeds desperately need to find a striker who can score 20+ goals in the Championship. Grabban did just that last season with two loan spells, first at Sunderland, where he scored 12 goals, and that at Aston Villa where he added another eight. Nixon says Bournemouth will sell if the price is right and we imagine that Leeds will buy if the price is rght – but what is that? Grabban is 30-years-old and he's out of contract next summer. With his wages a potential sticking point, the fee would have to be pretty small for Leeds to consider a deal. They've been linked with Abel Hernandez heavily this summer but appear to be sounding out alternatives because his wages are high. Ultimately it will be money that dictates this one. Interestingly, Nixon says that Leeds want both Grabban and Matej Vydra from Derby. He scored 21 goals in the Championship last season. Getting two strikers who could both hit that magical number would represent amazing business for Leeds.
