Report details major development in Everton pursuit of 43-year-old manager

Wolves have not received an approach from Everton for manager Nuno Espirito Santo, according to a report.

The Express & Star claims that the West Midlands side is yet to have any contact with the Toffees as they look to end their search to replace Ronald Koeman after he was sacked last week.

The Guardian has reported that that Nuno, 43, has been handed an "attractive" offer by Everton and they are now awaiting the Portuguese boss to make a decision.

However it is now understood that there has been no contact from Goodison Park and that Wolves would rebuff any approach that comes there way for Nuno as he is seen by the club's owners Fosun as one of the key parts of their bid for promotion.

The reported major development also includes the ex-Porto boss' outlook on life at Molineux as it says that he is currently happy where he is and is not looking to leave.

Football Insider Verdict

Nuno has had mixed results where he has gone in his managerial career and rarely lasts more than 12 months in the jobs he has been in. He is by no means a long-term solution for the Toffees and really that is what they need after axing Koeman despite raving about their long-term project with the Dutchman. David Unsworth may be the best solution, but there will by no means be any short-term success. If the Toffees want to get the best out of their academy and see themselves develop a clutch of young, hungry players, then Unsworth is their best bet. But if someone like Nuno comes in then Everton will fall into the trap of having to sack and replace every year.
