Manuel Lanzini's new West Ham contract does not include a release clause, Football Insider has learned.

The Argentina playmaker, 26, has penned a four-year deal with an option of a further two years that was announced by the club yesterday afternoon.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider that co-chairman David Sullivan spearheaded the negotiations and reached an agreement that will see Lanzini earn £100,000-a-week and be catapulted into the club's top earning bracket.

Significantly, his new agreement does not incorporate a buy-out figure, which is in stark contrast to the new contract agreed by Marko Arnautovic in the January window.

It is common for leading Premier League players and their agents to insist upon a release clause, giving them greater freedom to secure an exit in the future at a set price.

But Sullivan and the Hammers board were keen to lock Lanzini in for the long term, four years after he moved to the London Stadium, initially on loan from Al-Jaziri, before completing a permanent transfer 12 months later.

Manuel Pellegrini has made it clear how highly he rates Lanzini with his team selection for the new campaign.

The Argentine has been selected for the central playmaking role ahead of the likes of summer signing Pablo Fornals and responded with two assists in the opening three Premier League matches.
