Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is not expected to play for the club again.

The USA international sealed a season-long loan to Bournemouth on the final day of the domestic window last month following talks with a number of second-tier clubs.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider there are no plans to hand the defender a new contract regardless of how he performs this season.

The centre-back, 22, is on a deal with his parent club that runs until next summer.

That is expected to spell the end of Carter-Vickers' lengthy association with Spurs, that began when he joined the academy at the age of 11.

He does not figure in Jose Mourinho's plans and the manager gave the green light for the defender to leave permanently.

Tottenham slashed Carter-Vickers' asking price to £2.5million late in the window to get a deal over the finish line.

But he ended up going on his sixth loan at a Championship club, with Bournemouth winning the race for his signature.

Carter-Vickers had joined Luton on loan in January and was a big success after falling out of favour at Stoke City, where he had spent the first half of last season.

He had spent the previous two seasons on loan at Swansea City, Ipswich Town and Sheffield United.

Carter-Vickers is yet to play for Bournemouth, where he has been building up his fitness since joining.
