West Ham were willing to sell striker Danny Ings in the final week of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

However, a lack of interest in the 31-year-old from Premier League clubs means he remains an Irons player until January at least.

Ings only joined West Ham earlier this year from Aston Villa for a fee of around £15million.

The England international has struggled for game time at the London club and played a limited role as they won the Europa Conference League last season.

It is believed West Ham were willing to sell Ings for a loss in the off-season.

He has two years remaining on his contract at the London Stadium, which nets him a reported £125,000-a-week.

Michail Antonio has started the new campaign as the first-choice striker for David Moyes' side following Gianluca Scamacca's exit.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (18 September) that West Ham have opened talks with Antonio over a new contract.

The Jamaica international has scored two goals in five appearances this term.

In contrast, Ings is yet to start and has managed 30 minutes of action across five substitute appearances in the new campaign.

The ex-Southampton and Liverpool striker managed three goals and two assists in 22 appearances for the Irons in the second half of last season - but started in just eight of those outings.

Ings' best return in the Premier League came for Southampton in the 2019-20 season - when he managed 22 goals in 38 top-flight games.
