Paul Robinson is baffled Tottenham have accepted Galatasaray's loan bid for Japhet Tanganga.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one insisted the "great" 22-year-old should be part of the plans in north London this season if he has a future at the club.

The Athletic's Charlie Eccleshare reported on August 4th that Spurs have accepted a season-long loan offer from Galatasaray for the defender.

However, according to Football.London‘s Alasdair Gold (29th July), the club would prefer the England Under-21 international to join a UK-based side.

Tanganga signed a new five-year contract at Tottenham 12 months ago.

When asked by Football Insider's Dylan Childs for his assessment of Tanganga's future, Robinson said:

"Where's the value in sending him out on loan? I can't see it.

"If he is not part of the manager's plans then allow him to move on.

"Tanganga is at the point and age now where he should be part of the first team if he is going to be a Tottenham player.

"A move to Galatasaray is a chance to play regular football at a high level but I cannot see how that will work for anybody.

"I am a big fan of Tanganga. He's a great player so I'm struggling to understand why Spurs would send him out on loan."
