Robinson impressed by 'global monster' Rangers and makes big claim about Gerrard stay
Paul Robinson has hailed Rangers as a "global monster" and predicted Steven Gerrard to stay for the long haul.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England international said the Light Blues took a "huge risk" appointing Gerrard but it has been emphatically vindicated.
Robinson predicted his former England teammate will have sustained success at Ibrox and does not see him leaving for a long time.
Robinson also applauded his Gerrard for taking the opportunity as he "could have fallen flat on his face".
"It's an amazing achievement for him and for everyone at the club," he told Football Insider.
"I genuinely believe this is just the start of what he wants to build at Rangers. He has been there three years which seems to have flown by. This is not a one-off season. This is going to be the start of a very successful period at Ibrox for him.
"You have to give the club a lot of credit for taking a chance on him, but you also have to give him a lot of credit for taking a chance on Rangers.
"It was a huge risk appointing Steven. Rangers are a global monster of a club and he could have fallen flat on his face.
"There are two parties there that need to be given a lot of credit for taking a chance on each other. It just seems to have worked."
Speaking to Sky Sports, King, 65, revealed that he knew he was taking a gamble on the former Liverpool captain in May 2018.
Gerrard had not managed a senior side prior to his appointment at Ibrox, and King said the 40-year-old's "character and personality" was key to him landing the job.
