Paul Robinson has claimed Everton "will have to be clever" in the January transfer market.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the club's lack of funds "is a big concern" given that they are in desperate need of adding goals to their side.

Frank Lampard's side struggled in the lead up to the World Cup and are currently 17th in the table and one point above the relegation zone.

Owner Farhad Moshiri is unwilling to underwrite fund a winter spending spree amid doubts over his long-term future at Goodison Park.

When asked by Football Insider if the lack of funds was a concern given the team's position in the table, Robinson said: "It is a big concern.

"They are lacking goals and without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, they do not have a natural goalscorer in the team.

"Neil Maupay does well when he comes in. He works hard and occupies centre-halves but he is not a prolific goalscorer.

"Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray do not chip in with enough goals. They need more prolific players in those areas.

"If they do not have a lot of funds they will have to be clever in the transfer market. They may have to look to loan signings."
