Sean Dyche should land touchline ban as 'irresponsible' Everton footage emerges - Hackett
Keith Hackett has suggested Everton boss Sean Dyche and Leeds United caretaker manager Michael Skubala should have taken more responsibility for their players after a mass confrontation involving the two sides on Saturday (18 February).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Fifa and Premier League referee expects both sides to be hit with FA charges - but insisted potential touchline bans for managers would stamp on-field fracases out of football.
As seen in footage from the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube account (18 February), Leeds' Adams and Everton star Dwight McNeil were involved in an altercation after a foul from the Toffees winger.
Players from both sides then piled into a mass confrontation which spilled over close to the home fans at Goodison Park.
Leeds' Adams and Weston McKennie, and Everton stars Dwight McNeil and Abdoulaye Doucoure were booked for their part in the melee.
Everton and Liverpool were charged for a similar incident just last week (16 February) after failing to control their players during the Merseyside derby.
Hackett told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Out of nothing, again, we see players acting like children. Both clubs will be charged with failing to control their players.
“There was a foul, yes, but there was nothing too much in it. It all develops and the players come piling in.
“The referee was close at hand, he’s tried to contain it.
“Should we not be considering that the managers are responsible for the players? Where’s the responsibility of the managers?
“I think if managers like Sean Dyche were included in the charges, with a potential touchline ban as a punishment – then you’d see less mass confrontations like that.
"The managers would then be irresponsible if they didn't manage to contain their players, as it would cost the club more."
