The early Leeds United planning for the summer window is that Barry Douglas will no longer be at the club, Football Insider has learned.

The Scotland international, 30, has made just four Championship starts out of a possible 37 this campaign and has slipped to third choice left-back.

A source with knowledge of Leeds' transfer plans has told Football Insider that the club do not expect Douglas to be at the club next season.

He is out of contract in the summer of 2021 and the next window offers the last opportunity to recoup a significant portion of the £3million fee paid to Wolves two years ago.

Douglas was once again on the bench for today's Yorkshire derby against Huddersfield.

The versatile former winger Stuart Dallas has taken over as first choice left-back when Marcelo Bielsa has his full complement of defenders to call upon.

The other converted winger Ezgjan Alioski is also now ahead of Douglas and was notably chosen to come on in the first half of the recent win against Reading when Kalvin Phillips went off due to injury.

Douglas has failed to live up to expectations since he arrived after being a standout in Wolves' promotion-winning campaign.

A combination of injury and mixed form has held him back, with Marcelo Bielsa preferring more attack-minded full-backs than the left-footed set piece specialist.

Douglas has started just one league match since last August and has only 39 appearances for Leeds in nearly two full seasons.
