Kenny tips ex-teammate Clarke-Harris to snub Rangers and join Sheffield United after major reveal

Johnson Clarke-Harris would be a perfect signing for a Sheffield United side desperate for a quality goalscorer.

That is according to ex-Blades goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively after Football Insider revealed that United are targeting his old Rotherham teammate.

Rangers

Ibrox talent spotters were treated to a dazzling performance as the 26-year-old bagged a hat-trick in a 7-0 victory over Accrington Stanley.

Clarke-Harris has netted 29 times in 43 appearances in League One this season, making him the division's top scorer.

Kenny raved over Clarke-Harris' goalscoring exploits and insisted that he would be the right fit for a United side in need of a top marksman.

"I played with him at Rotherham," he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

"He's a big strapping lad. He didn't get much game time at Rotherham but he's got a ridiculous number of goals this season.

"I don't see why he can't make that next step up. He's still a good age and they need someone who can score goals.

"A goalscorer is a goalscorer. If he's got the confidence to do it at that level then chances are he'll be able to take his game to another level too."

Clarke-Harris scored 10 times in 79 appearances for Rotherham where he and Kenny crossed paths in 2016.

A Coventry academy graduate, he would also have permanent spells with Oldham and Bristol Rovers before joining Peterborough.
