Arsenal are keen on Everton midfielder Amadou Onana and could rival Newcastle United for his signature this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed Arsenal are also keen on the Belgium international as the transformation of their midfield continues.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Onana is just one of several players Mikel Arteta and his recruitment staff are monitoring ahead of the summer window.

Sources say the Everton star will not be the top target for the Gunners in the off-season.

Sean Dyche's side currently sit in the relegation zone, and it is believed dropping to the Championship will significantly slash Onana's price tag.

The Merseysiders paid a reported £33million for the Belgium international's services in 2022.

He has made 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season, notching two goals and one assist.

Onana is under contract at Goodison Park until June 2027.

The 22-year-old has racked up nine caps for Belgium and played for his country at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Arsenal

Arsenal have already bolstered their midfield options with the club-record signing of Declan Rice last summer (2023) but are looking to go even further in the upcoming summer window.

The Gunners sit third in the Premier League and are just two points adrift of top spot after beating leaders Liverpool on Sunday (4 February).
