West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell is close to landing a new deal at the London Stadium, sources have told Football Insider.

The 33-year-old is hopeful of extending his stay with the Hammers if David Moyes is kept on as manager next season.

The Scot shares a great relationship with Cresswell and values his leadership and experience in the dressing room highly.

It is understood that Moyes is a huge fan of the English defender and will green-light an extension to the West Ham board if he is kept in charge next term.

Cresswell's current deal is set to expire in the summer and he is well into the twilight years of his career, but he is growing increasingly confident of staying put in London.

He remains the first-choice left-back for the Irons and his versatility has proved to be useful when playing on the left of a three-man defence.

West Ham are set to offload a number of defensive players in the summer, but are wary of losing the likes of Ben Johnson, Vladimir Coufal and Cresswell in the same window.

Should Johnson head for the exit at Goodison Park, it increases the likelihood of Cresswell staying on the books at West Ham.

West Ham

Cresswell is currently spending his ninth year at the club, and he has amassed 324 appearances for the Hammers across all competitions.

He has remained a pivotal part of Moyes' squad this season, making 31 appearances and providing three assists.
