Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson is set to quit the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that a move to Germany could be an avenue available to the 22-year-old following his impressive spell at Red Bull Salzburg in neighbouring Austria.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Aaronson is "highly regarded" by a number of Bundesliga sides.

The midfielder's younger brother, Paxten, plies his trade for Eintracht Frankfurt after leaving Philadelphia Union last summer (2022).

A return to the Premier League for Aaronson is not likely following his limited impact in his first season in England.

As has been widely reported, the United States international has a relegation release clause in his Leeds contract - which has become active following the club's demotion to the Championship.

It is believed the player himself is keen to leave Elland Road in the off-season.

The attacking midfielder, who cost Leeds a reported fee of almost £25million last summer (2022), has a contract running until June 2027.

Aaronson earns a reported wage of £45,000-a-week.

He managed just two goals and three assists in 41 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign.

The midfielder was a mainstay under the stewardship of Jesse Marsch and Javi Gracia but was dropped to the bench following the late-season appointment of Sam Allardyce.

Leeds have begun work behind the scenes as they plot their business in the upcoming summer transfer window.
