Chelsea will have to part with multiple stars in January to readdress the balance of Mauricio Pochettino's squad, sources have told Football Insider.

The Blues squad is bloated with vast numbers of big-money signings and a well-placed source has told Football Insider that "tough decisions will have to be made" in the new year.

Chelsea boss Pochettino confirmed after the club’s 2-0 loss against Everton on Sunday (10 December) that he feels more signings are needed at Stamford Bridge.

That is despite the big-money arrivals of 12 stars in the most recent summer window - the Argentine's first at the club.

It is believed players will need to move on if Chelsea are to do any further business in January.

It is believed Brentford star Ivan Toney, Napoli's Victor Osimhen and Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez are all on the radar at Stamford Bridge - although deals for the trio could prove too hard to do.

Summer signing Christopher Nkunku is yet to play a competitive minute for Chelsea following a serious injury in pre-season, while Nicolas Jackson has flattered to deceive despite notching seven goals this term.

Also on the agenda for Pochettino is a new goalkeeper despite the signing of Robert Sanchez in the summer.

The Blues sit 12th in the Premier League after 16 games - the most recent of which was a 2-0 loss at Everton on Sunday (10 December).

They are next in action against Sheffield United on Saturday (16 December).
