Crystal Palace are plotting a move for Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper if Roy Hodgson is to leave the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Cooper, 43, is a top target for Palace and is admired by club chiefs for his exploits at the City Ground.

The Welshman figures highly on the wanted list at Selhurst Park despite his struggles at Forest in the 2023-24 campaign.

Nottingham Forest

As revealed by Football Insider on Thursday (7 December), veteran manager Hodgson could leave Crystal Palace within weeks.

He is not expected to be sacked by Palace, but there is a growing likelihood of him leaving by mutual consent halfway into his one-year contract.

Crystal Palace have won just one of their last seven Premier League games and sit 14th in the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Cooper is under pressure at Forest amid a run of just one win in 11 Premier League matches.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (6 December) that he expects to be sacked soon by Nottingham Forest following the club’s recent slump.

The Midlands club finished 16th in the table last season despite sitting bottom in October 2022 – when the Welshman was handed a new contract at the club.

He achieved promotion to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest last year and has won 12 of his 52 total top-flight games.

Cooper is under contract at the City Ground until June 2025 but could be relieved of his duties if Forest's poor form continues.

Palace are next in action against Liverpool on Saturday (9 December), while Forest face Wolves later that day.
