Former Rangers defender Lee Hodson is set to join Dundee on a free transfer, Football Insider has learned.

The full-back, 29, is heading to Dens Park after his two-year spell at Gillingham came to an end.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Hodson has agreed terms with Dundee and will complete the move imminently.

Hodson left Rangers in 2019 after three years at the club.

In all, he made 30 Premiership appearances and managed to score one goal.

Despite signing for Gillingham after leaving Ibrox, Hodson found himself back in Scotland just six months later.

After a slow start to life in League One, the defender returned to the Premiership on loan with St Mirren.

This was his second spell at St Mirren Park after spending the final year of his Rangers career with the side.

Last season, Hodson was unable to break into the Gillingham first team and was again sent out on loan, this time to Hamilton Academical.

This should work to Dundee's advantage as Hodson has remained very familiar with the Premiership since leaving Rangers.

The Gers signed Hodson from MK Dons in the summer of 2016.

The defender has been a journeyman since he left Watford in 2012, playing for seven clubs over eight different spells.

Hodson has also enjoyed a successful international career, making 28 appearances for Northern Ireland.

However, his last cap came back in 2018.

Hodson will have the chance to face his former side when Rangers face Dundee on 18 December.
