Everton do not expect Dele Alli to play for them again, sources have told Football Insider.
The attacking midfielder, 26, is on a season-long loan at Besiktas that could be made permanent at the end of the season depending on performance triggers in the deal.
Alli has started three games for his new team and missed the other two with injury since his arrival.
He has an Everton contract that runs until the summer of 2024, but the club protected themselves from a huge payout to Tottenham.
Alli joined on a free transfer rising to £10million once he played 20 matches, and then potentially to £40m if all objectives were met.
But he has struggled to make an impact at Goodison Park and club chiefs privately do not expect him to wear the Everton jersey again.
The midfielder did feature for the Toffees this season, coming off the bench in their first two games of the season. against Chelsea and Aston Villa, playing a combined 38 minutes.
Alli made thirteen total appearances for the club but failed to register a goal or assist.
Speaking to Turkish outlet Spor Arena (24 September), Alli revealed he “definitely wants to go back” to the Premier League.
Everton sit 11th in the Premier League after their win over Southampton on Saturday made it back-to-back victories in the top flight.
They are next in action against Man United on 9 October.
