Everton are in advanced talks to sign Udinese striker Beto, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseysiders have turned their attention to landing the Portugese striker, 25, before the window shuts and a deal is now close.

Everton are working on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

It is believed that Udinese are willing to green-light the sale of Beto, who is contracted until 2026, following talks in the last 24 hours.

The 6ft 4in hitman is already up and running for the 2023-24 campaign after notching a goal and an assist in the Coppa Italia against US Catanzaro on Friday (11 August).

Last season, Beto managed 10 goals and two assists in 34 appearances across all competitions as Udinese recorded a 12th-place finish in Serie A.

He has notched 22 goals in 64 total appearances for the club since joining from Portimonense on an initial loan in 2021.

Everton are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements and have already completed the signing of one Portuguese forward this summer.

Sporting CP starlet Youssef Chermiti, 19, has joined the Merseysiders for a reported £15million.

The Toffees struggled for goals last season as they narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues to struggle with injury and could miss the season-opener against Fulham on Saturday (12 August).

Ellis Simms has been sold to Coventry, while Neal Maupay is also expected to be moved on in the final few weeks of the summer window.
