£60m-rated Everton star Onana is wanted by Newcastle United and Arsenal

Newcastle United are leading the race for Everton star Amadou Onana ahead of the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

And now a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Everton are set to ask for a fee of between £50-60million for their midfield star in the summer.

The Toffees hope to land a fee of that magnitude if their takeover is completed before the summer and they avoid relegation to the Championship.

Arsenal are also keen on Onana, with Football Insider revealing on Wednesday (7 February) that he is just one of several players Mikel Arteta and his recruitment staff are monitoring ahead of the summer window.

Everton are keen to keep the Belgium international at Goodison Park but are facing grave circumstances if their financial situation can't be improved.

Newcastle see Onana as a big upgrade on some of their current midfield options.

He has made 24 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign so far, notching two goals and one assist.

The former West Ham target has racked up 50 games in the Premier League since joining Everton in August 2022.

Onana is under contract on Merseyside until June 2027.
