Sources: Ex-Hibernian boss Lee Johnson set to be named new Fleetwood Town manager
Lee Johnson is set to be appointed as new Fleetwood Town manager after impressing in an interview on Thursday (7 September), sources have told Football Insider.
The former Hibernian boss shone in front of the Fleetwood hierarchy and has been offered the job to become Scott Brown's successor.
Johnson was sacked as manager of the Scottish Premiership side less than two weeks ago and is now preparing for a swift return to the dugout.
Fleetwood have been in the hunt for a new boss after former Celtic and Scotland star Scott Brown was relieved of his duties last weekend following a poor run of games where he picked up just one point from their first six League One games.
Football Insider revealed (8 September) that former Oxford United and MK Dons boss Karl Robinson turned down the offer from the club to be their new manager.
Barrow boss Lee Wild has also been in the frame for the job after an impressive start to his League Two campaign, as revealed by Football Insider (7 September).
Johnson has previous experience in England and has taken charge of Oldham, Barnsley and Sunderland as he prepares to try and turn around Fleetwood's dismal start to their League One campaign.
He was relieved of his duties at Easter Road following an underwhelming start to the Edinburgh side's Scottish Premiership campaign winning just one of their four league games so far.
Hibs were also on the wrong end of an 8-0 aggregate defeat to Aston Villa in their Europa Conference League play-off.
