Fulham are weighing up a move for Feyenoord midfielder Mats Wieffer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed Fulham were watching Feyenoord duo Santiago Gimenez, who grabbed an assist, and 24-year-old Wieffer - who came off the bench in a dead rubber loss against the Hoops.

The Netherlands international has been a regular starter this season and has impressed clubs across Europe with his performances.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that he could cost around £20-25million with Feyenoord reluctant to lose him mid-season.

It is believed Fulham are weighing up a move for the ex-Excelsior man if Joao Palhinha seals a January move away from the club.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (15 December) that Bayern Munich remain interested in a potential January move for the 28-year-old.

That is despite the Portugal international penning a new five-year contract in September.

Marco Silva has recently spoken out about Palhinha, claiming he expects interest in his services in January and suggesting “10-15 clubs” are discussing a potential swoop.

Wieffer notched three goals and seven assists in 37 games for Feyenoord last season, helping them win the Eredivisie title.

He has made 21 appearances across all competitions so far this term, notching three goals and one assist - and starring in the Champions League group stage.

The defensive midfielder's contract at De Kuip is set to run until June 2027.
