Sources: Ipswich Town approach Lampard and Terry keen on job
Ipswich Town have approached Frank Lampard about becoming their new manager, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The League One big guns are in the market for a replacement for Paul Cook, who was sacked last Saturday (4 December).
An Ipswich source has told Football Insider that Lampard is a leading target for the club and they have moved to ascertain his interest in the post.
The 43-year-old came close to being appointed manager of their rivals Norwich City last month before he pulled out of the race at the eleventh hour.
Lampard’s fellow Chelsea legend John Terry is also a contender for the Ipswich job.
The source explained the former defender is interested in kicking off his managerial career with the third-tier outfit.
But Ipswich could have a bigger job enticing Lampard, who was sacked by Chelsea in January of this year.
The Tractor Boys sit 11th in League One despite heavy investment in the summer.
They were beaten 2-0 by Charlton on Tuesday evening (7 December), leaving them with one win in their last five league games.
Ipswich Town sit nine points off the play-off places as it stands and face a trip to high-flying Wigan on Saturday (11 December).
On 26 July, Aston Villa confirmed Terry was stepping down from his position as assistant head coach.
He first joined the club as a player in 2017 before stepping up and joining Dean Smith's staff.
