Sources: Javi Gracia demands Leeds overhaul if they survive relegation
Javi Gracia has urged Leeds United to overhaul their squad this summer if they survive relegation, sources have told Football Insider.
The Spaniard is tasked with keeping the Yorkshire club afloat in the Premier League season after taking over from Jesse Marsch in February when the American was sacked.
Gracia wants to be heavily backed by the Leeds board in the summer should he guide the Whites to safety this season, with the former Watford boss particularly wanting to improve the club's defence.
Leeds currently sit 19th in the Premier League table, with their 2-2 draw with Brighton on Saturday afternoon not enough to lift them out of the bottom three.
Football Insider sources revealed on Saturday (11 March) that Illan Meslier, Robin Koch and Jack Harrison are ready to quit Leeds if they are demoted to the Championship.
Gracia has picked up four points in his first three league fixtures, with his only loss in the Premier League so far coming against Chelsea.
Gracia may find himself asking an entirely new Leeds board for financial backing this summer, with American investors 49ers Enterprises closing in on a majority takeover at Elland Road this summer.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (10 March) that Leeds director Victor Orta is likely to be the first out the door when the 49ers complete the takeover.
The change of ownership will likely result in the club receiving an injection of cash, and Gracia wants to see a large investment in the Leeds playing squad to ensure they avoid a relegation fight next season if they survive the drop.
