Sources: Leeds United manager target Carlos Corberan set for talks
West Brom are ready to offer Carlos Corberan a new contract to fend off interest from Premier League clubs led by his old club Leeds United, sources have told Football Insider.
The Albion boss, 39, is on the radar of Leeds amid new doubts over the future of Jesse Marsch in the wake of Sunday's defeat to Nottingham Forest.
West Brom are set for talks with Corberan as they look to tie him down to a new and improved deal.
They are aware he could come into the reckoning for the Leeds job after working there as a coach alongside Marcelo Bielsa following an impressive stint with their Under-21s side.
Corberan has made a big impact at West Brom since taking over as their manager in October on a contract running until the summer of 2025.
The team has a remarkable points per game of 2.31 from 13 Championship matches, which have yielded 10 wins and three draws.
Albion have rocked to fifth in the table and are in firm play-off contention, although a top-two finish looks out of the question.
Corberan has no Premier League management experience, but also steered Huddersfield into play-off contention before his departure last summer and then had a short stint in charge of Greek club Olympiacos.
A section of Leeds supporters called for Marsch to be sacked at the end of Sunday's defeat to Forest at the City Ground.
United were considering a change of manager in November and again early in January but went on to spend big in the January window with the £35million club-record signing of Georginio Rutter plus the captures of midfield loanee Weston McKennie and young defender Diogo Monteiro.
