Thomas Partey's potential Arsenal exit could now be on ice following his latest injury blow, sources have told Football Insider.

Mikel Arteta has confirmed the 30-year-old is facing an extended period on the sidelines after undergoing a procedure on a "significant" thigh injury.

The Spaniard claimed that Partey will hopefully miss "weeks and not months" following his latest injury setback.

Arsenal

It is believed Arsenal had been open to allowing the Ghana international to leave the club in January as they raise funds for a new defensive midfield signing.

But with Partey now unlikely to move in the mid-season window, it is unclear if Arsenal will have the funds to make a deal possible.

The former Atletico Madrid star has seen his involvement seriously limited by injury so far this season.

He has made just five appearances totalling 341 minutes of action so far in the 2023-24 campaign.

Partey was an undisputed starter for Arteta's side last season but the arrival of Declan Rice in the summer window has thrown a spanner into the works for the 30-year-old.

Arsenal

The right-footer, who is under contract at Arsenal until June 2025, started the season in an unfamiliar right-back role before succumbing to injury.

Partey joined the club in 2020 and earns a reported wage of £200,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium.
