Tottenham defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott saw his proposed move to Swindon Town collapse after both clubs failed to get the paperwork done in time, sources have told Football Insider.

The transfer was on course to be completed by the 11pm deadline but there were delays over the registration documents and it was not processed in time.

Football Insider sources revealed on Tuesday that the Premier League giants had agreed for the centre-back, 20, to join the League Two side on a permanent deal on transfer deadline day.

It means the England youth international will now remain at Tottenham until the summer at the earliest when a decision is made on his long-term future.

Tottenham were prepared to allow Fagan-Walcott to leave as he is unlikely to break into Antonio Conte's first-team plans.

The rising star made his first-team debut in March 2020 in the Champions League defeat to RB Leipzig and he had a loan spell with Dundee in January 2021.

Fagan-Walcott joined Spurs at 13 years old and spent five years in North London working his way through the club's youth system.

After impressing academy coaches, Fagan-Walcott was handed a professional contract by Tottenham in 2020.

Just a year later, Spurs decided to send him out on loan to Scottish side Dundee in order to help him gain valuable first-team experience.

However, in his six months at the club, Fagan-Walcott made just two senior appearances for Dundee.

Upon his return to Tottenham Fagan-Walcott has been plying his trade in the Under-21s, regularly competing in the Premier League 2.
