Man City could make a late move for Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae, sources have told Football Insider.

Bayern remain in pole position to sign Kim in this summer window - but Man City are now monitoring the defender's situation ahead of a potential swoop.

The South Korea international has a release clause, believed to be worth around £50million, which is set to become active in July.

Kim established himself as one of Europe's leading centre-backs with his performances as Napoli lifted the Serie A title in the 2022-23 campaign.

As such, that fee would represent a bargain for any top side keen on bolstering their rearguard ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

Man City fit into that bracket despite lifting a historic treble last term, with Pep Guardiola keen to improve his side even further.

Kim's contract only runs until June 2025 and earns him a reported wage of just over £53,000-a-week.

He notched two goals and two assists in 45 appearances in all competitions for Napoli in the 2022-23 campaign – and also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The 26-year-old joined the Italian outfit from Fenerbahce for a reported fee of £15.4million last summer (2022) but only signed a three-year deal with the club.

Man City

Man City are keen to add a top centre-back to their star-studded squad this summer - a move which would leave Aymeric Laporte surplus to requirements.

However, Football Insider revealed on Friday (23 June) that Laporte has rejected an approach from Spurs.
