Man United could return for long-term target Denzel Dumfries this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Red Devils considered a move for the 26-year-old in January but couldn't raise the funds for a permanent deal.

Sources have told Football Insider that Erik ten Hag remains a "huge fan" of Inter Milan star Dumfries ahead of the summer window.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Dumfries in recent transfer windows - but are unlikely to pursue that interest after wrapping up a deal for Lyon defender Malo Gusto in January.

Inter's financial troubles mean they could be forced to accept a lower fee than they expected.

It is believed a bid of between £40-50million could be enough to prise Dumfries away from the Serie A giants this summer.

The 26-year-old could be a number of players sold by Inter - with the free transfer exit of Milan Skriniar hurting the giants' balance sheet.

His contract at San Siro is worth a reported £54,000-a-week and runs until June 2025.

Dumfries has managed two goals and six assists in 31 appearances as a regular starter for the Nerazzuri this term.

The 42-cap defender impressed for the Netherlands at the European Championships in 2020 and the World Cup in 2022.

Man United

Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have competed for the starting right-back berth at Man United this season.
