Middlesbrough are plotting a move for Brentford striker Marcus Forss, sources have told Football Insider.

Boro boss Chris Wilder is in the market for a new striker after seeing moves for a number of targets fall through.

The Championship club have now set their sights on a deal for Forss before the window shuts.

The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Hull City, scoring one goal and providing one assist across 11 appearances for the Tigers.

14-time Finland international Forss better fits Gibson's preferred age profile at just 23 years old.

The forward has enjoyed prolific spells with AFC Wimbledon and Brentford in League One and the Championship respectively - but has struggled since the Bees' promotion to the Premier League.

Forss managed just one assist in 203 minutes of top-flight action in the 2021-22 campaign before his January loan to Hull.

In total, he has notched 19 goals and one assist in 74 appearances for Brentford - and boasts an impressive goalscoring record in the League Cup.

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough are desperate for striking reinforcements as they attempt to replace last season’s loan stars Aaron Connolly, Folarin Balogun, and Andraz Sporar.

The Teessiders are set to receive a big-money windfall, with right-back Djed Spence already pictured with a Tottenham shirt prior to completing his move to the London side.
