Sources: Millwall agree to sign Connal Trueman after Birmingham exit
Millwall have agreed a deal to sign former Birmingham City goalkeeper Connal Trueman on a free transfer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old is a free agent after leaving St. Andrew's earlier this summer upon the expiration of his contract.
Millwall have offered the shot-stopper the chance to stay in the Championship and a deal has been agreed between the two parties.
Lions manager Gary Rowett wants Trueman to provide cover and competition for Bartosz Bialkowski this season.
Bialkowski started Millwall's first game of the 2022-23 campaign against Stoke City.
He made two saves to help Gary Rowett's side to a 2-0 win over the Potters.
George Long was named on the bench for the fixture and started between the sticks on Tuesday as Millwall were beat 1-0 by Cambridge United in the EFL Cup.
His position at the club is now under threat amid the imminent arrival of Connal Trueman.
Trueman is a product of Birmingham's academy and signed his first professional deal with the club in June 2014.
Loan moves to Solihull Moors, AFC Wimbledon, Swindon Town and Oxford United would follow.
The English goalkeeper's best spell came in the 2020-21 campaign at AFC Wimbledon.
He kept four clean sheets in 19 League One appearances that year.
Trueman made 15 appearances for Birmingham but never managed to establish himself as a regular at St. Andrew's.
