Northampton Town have agreed to sign Blackburn Rovers defender Tyler Magloire, Football Insider understands.

The 23-year-old, who can play at centre-back and right-back, has made four appearances for Tony Mowbray’s side this season.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Magloire turned down loan offers from other clubs to make the move to Northampton.

An agreement is in place and the deal should soon be finalised.

The defender's contract at Ewood Park expires at the end of this season.

Magloire spent two months out on loan at Hartlepool last term before being sent out to Scottish Premiership side Motherwell in the second half of the campaign.

The Rovers academy product has made just one league start for Tony Mowbray's side this season.

He has also featured just twice for the under-23s in their Premier League 2 campaign.

Magloire made his breakthrough in the 2018-19 season, making two Championship appearances.

The Bradford-born defender then went out on a season-long loan to Rochdale the following season.

However, the deal was cut short by the Rovers in January 2020.

The versatile 23-year-old has earned a reputation for his speed after clocking in faster than Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe in 2019.

Northampton are attempting to bolster their promotion credentials by bringing in defensive reinforcements in this window.

Jon Brady's side have already been active in the transfer window, bringing in former Blackburn striker Chanka Zimba earlier this month.
