Sources: Nottingham Forest agree to sign Hogarth after Rangers exit
Nottingham Forest have agreed to sign goalkeeper Nicky Hogarth following his Rangers exit, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Championship club have moved for the 19-year-old as they look to strengthen their keeping ranks.
A Forest source has told Football Insider that the club have reached an agreement with Hogarth, 19, following a breakthrough in talks.
He is set to put pen to paper on a contract imminently and be confirmed as a new arrival.
Forest have pounced for Hogarth after he revealed on his personal Twitter account on 17th May he was being released by Rangers.
The teenager did not play for Steven Gerrard's first team during his time at the club but accumulated extensive senior experience while out on loan.
Hogarth had five separate loan spells across recent seasons, at East Stirling, Kilwinning Rangers, Caledonian Braves, Stirling Albion and most recently, Cowdenbeath.
He initially joined Scottish League Two outfit Cowdenbeath on an emergency loan deal on Boxing Day before his stint was extended until the end of the season.
Hogarth was competing with many other young goalkeepers at Ibrox, where the ranks are headed by longstanding number one Allan McGregor and his deputy Jon McLaughlin.
Rangers also have Brian Kinnear, Andy Firth and Kieran Wright on their books as well as rising star Robby McCrorie.
Hogarth was released after new contracts were handed to McGregor, Firth and Wright.
Meanwhile, USA youth international Aaron Cervantes also recently arrived at the club from Orange County SC.
