Sources: Nottingham Forest set sights on Jonas Wind ahead of January
Nottingham Forest have set their sights on signing Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind ahead of the January window, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the 24-year-old is one of several options being looked at as the new year approaches.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (28 November) that Forest are ready to sign both an out-and-out striker and winger in the new year.
Steve Cooper's side sold Brennan Johnson to Tottenham for a reported fee of £47.5million on transfer deadline day in September, and funds from that deal are likely to be made available in January.
Wind has notched 10 goals and three assists in 14 appearances across all competitions this season.
He has managed nine Bundesliga strikes and is only behind Bayern Munich's Harry Kane and Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy in the league's scoring charts.
That makes the 2023-24 campaign already the most successful of Wind's career in Germany.
The forward, who is under contract until June 2026, has managed 21 goals and four assists in 54 games since joining from FC Copenhagen in 2022.
Wind has also racked up 21 Denmark caps since making his debut in October 2020, scoring seven goals.
Nottingham Forest's need for a striker has arisen after a serious injury to Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi, who has undergone groin surgery.
The Midlands club have won just one of their last nine games and sit 14th in the Premier League table.
