West Ham United midfielder Pedro Obiang is closing in a move back to Sampdoria, Football Insider sources understands.

West Ham are ready to sell Obiang for the right price to reduce the size of their squad after bringing in seven new signings so far this summer.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that talks are at an advanced stage between both clubs and both parties are confident a deal can be agreed to see Obiang return to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Obiang spent seven years at Sampdoria after joining the club from Atletico Madrid as a 16-year-old.

The all-action midfielder made 139 appearances for Sampdoria before leaving for West Ham in 2015 and he is highly-regarded in Italy.

Obiang impressed for West Ham last season, making 27 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers and chipping in with two goals including his stunning strike in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham at Wembley.

West Ham are prepared to cash-in on Obiang as it may allow them to make a late foray into the transfer market to bring in another midfielder before the window closes next month.
