Sources: Plymouth Argyle agree to sign Scarr from Walsall
Plymouth Argyle have agreed to sign Walsall defender Dan Scarr on a free transfer, Football Insider understands.
The centre-back, 26, is out of contract at the League Two club at the end of this month.
A club source has told Football Insider Plymouth have taken advantage of Scarr’s availability by agreeing terms after he accepted their contract offer.
The deal is expected to be completed imminently.
Scarr started 34 of Walsall's league games last season as they dragged themselves clear of the relegation zone.
The 6ft 2inch defender chipped in with four goals and one assist and played every minute as Walsall went unbeaten in their first eight games.
Scarr's career started with playing non-league football with Causeway United, Redditch United and Stourbridge part-time while working in a gym.
After impressing in the seventh tier, Scarr went on trial with a number of EFL clubs.
These included West Brom and Birmingham City, the club he supports.
The Blues signed Scarr on a two and half year deal in 2017 but he only made one senior appearance for the club.
During his second season as St Andrews, Scarr was loaned to Wycombe Wanderers.
He made 22 appearances for Wycombe during the 2017/18 season.
He then joined Walsall in January 2019 and has become an important member of the squad.
To date, he has made 96 appearances in all competitions for the Saddlers.
Argyle finished 18th in the recently concluded League One season.
They narrowly avoided relegation on their first season back in the third tier of English football.
