PSV Eindhoven have joined the race to sign Liverpool defender Nat Phillips this month, Football Insider understands.

The Dutch big hitters are in the market for a centre-back signing and have set their sights on potential Premier League options.

A Dutch source has told Football Insider that PSV have made an approach for Phillips after learning Liverpool will let him go this month.

The Merseysiders are listening to permanent and loan offers for the centre-back after he slipped down the pecking order this season.

Several clubs view Phillips as an affordable, available centre-back with top-level experience in England.

He enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season thanks to injuries suffered by other defenders at Anfield.

The centre-back played 20 times across all competitions, including in the Champions League quarter-finals.

However, he has struggled for game time this season, playing just three times.

Phillips has missed Liverpool's recent fixtures after suffering a fractured cheekbone in the win over AC Milan.

The Reds have now given him the green light to leave this month.

Eredivisie table-toppers PSV have made a move to try strike a deal with the Merseyside giants.

The Dutch outfit lost centre-back André Ramalho to an ankle injury in late December.
