Stoke City and Preston North End are lining up moves for Dunfermline defender Josh Edwards, Football Insider understands.

The 22-year-old is on the radar of the two English clubs after an impressive run of performances in the Scottish Championship last season.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Dunfermline value Edwards in the region of £100,000 and would demand a sell-on fee be included in a deal.

The Scottish club could be forced into the sale of their left-back this summer as he has entered the final year of his contract.

Dunfermline do not want Edwards to run down his deal and leave on a free in 12 months time.

Edwards signed a two-year contract extension at the end of the 2020-21 campaign after scooping the Pars Young Player of the Year award.

In the 2021-22 season, the full-back made 43 appearances across all competitions.

He contributed two goals and six assists in those games.

Edwards joined Scottish League One club Airdrieonians in 2017.

He made 39 appearances for them before moving to Dunfermline in July 2019.

The Kilmarnock-born defender has played 96 times for the Scottish Championship side.

Stoke City and Preston are both in the market for a left-back this summer.

The Potters are preparing for the potential exit of Josh Tymon.

Tymon has three years remaining on his contract with Stoke.
