Rangers, Celtic and West Brom target Ivan Toney has made it clear he wants a transfer this summer, Football Insider understands.

The in-demand striker has told his club Peterborough United as well as friends he wants to play at a higher level as he eyes the biggest move of his career.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Rangers and West Brom currently lead the race among British clubs for the centre-forward.

New York Red Bulls have also tabled a bid of £4million for Toney that Posh director of football Barry Fry revealed was turned down flat.

He has previously claimed the League One club want £15m for the player who comfortably topped the division's goal charts this season.

The third-tier side would prefer an early-window sale to give them enough time to secure a replacement.

However, Rangers and Celtic's striker plans depend upon whether they keep hold of their star men Alfredo Morelos and Odsonne Edouard.

In two seasons since joining Peterborough from Newcastle United, Toney has scored 49 goals in 94 Peterborough matches as well as provided 15 assists.

He netted 26 times, 24 of them in the league, in the League One season curtailed earlier this month and in which his club narrowly missed out on promotion.
